Sickness costing the economy money

medicalnotesm1.jpg

Since the 1970′s the number of people on incapacity benefits has trebled. Briton has the highest number of people on the benefit in Europe so the NHS will be introducing the “fit note”.

This note is something the Doctor will give to the patient for their company to see what the employee can do instead of what they cant do.

175m working days are lost every year which is costing the economy £100bn in lost taxes, benefits and productivity.

The reform should help encourage employees back to work and a report states that businesses should do more to facilitate flexible working i.e changes to the working hours, and the job role.
