Consumer groups around the country and voiced their anger once again at Centrica who announced a near £1bn profit a day after a price increase of 35%.

Age Concern alongside many other charity organisations fear for pensioners and those from a working class background who will find it as a great burden to pay for the winter heat.

British Gas said it raised gas bills by 35% to restore “reasonable profitability”.
