It would appear that there are 5% fewer people planning to buy a car compared to last year and research shows that those who are going to buy will be spending less on new cars. Roughly £1,000 less will be spent on new cars compared to last year.

On the other hand 25% more men have opted to buy a 2nd hand car in the last 6 months instead of a new car. Women are just as likely to buy a new car this year.

More people of Scotland are planning to buy a car this year compared to the rest of the UK.

It is believed that one of the reason for buying newer cars is raising fuel costs so we’re all shopping around for more economical and reliable cars. Another reason is that its easier to get a car now than before because of the various finance options available.A huge chunk of consumers will be financing their cars so it’s important to find the best loan rate. Also remember that no matter whats been advertised you can negotiate a different deal with your local dealership.

Now then, if someone was worried about rising fuel costs why would they go out and spend thousands on a newer car?
