Airlines in trouble due to fuel costs

The cost od oil barrels have been hitting record numbers recently. The main cause of the problem is fears of erupting violence in oil rich countries such as Nigeria and also problems in the Middle East.

All this action is getting petrol pumps so excited that they have raised the cost of petrol which now costs around £1.10 per litre.

This raising fuel cost has had a huge impact on the airline industry. Currently it is costing billions in losses for some American airline companies. The number of Domestic flights has now fallen.

One of the biggest causes of a slump in ticket sales ever was the 9/11 attacks. Now it seems as though raising fuel cost is the next big thing to effect airline profits.
